The Fifth Global Review of Aid for Trade took place at the WTO Headquarters in Geneva from 30 June – 2 July 2015. During the event, the global Aid for Trade community launched the new EIF Programme on 1 July 2015 under its new tagline: Trade for LDC Development. During the launch, substantive measures introduced into the new EIF to strengthen effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability of results and value for money were presented. Focusing on country experience, testimonies from Chad, Lesotho, Nepal and Vanuatu were also delivered providing first-hand evidence of the results and the impact that the Programme has so far contributed to ensuring that trade is used as a development tool for poverty reduction. In response to these testimonies and to further support the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to use trade as a tool for economic growth and poverty reduction through job and income opportunities, Norway donated NOK 150 million (US$ 19 million approximately) for Phase Two of the EIF: Trade for LDC Development over the next five years (2016-2020). The new EIF logo was also unveiled at the launch event. Additional EIF activities included an event focused on Pacific Trade, the unveiling of the EIF Trade Exhibition which included sharing of Country experiences (Cambodia, Mali and Yemen) in the EIF Knowledge Cafe Corner. Coffee from Burundi and honey from Yemen were also offered as part of the EIF Breakfast treats during the three-day event.
